Honestly, if the ACC is going that route. They should also add CU, Memphis, Tulane, WVU, and Ok State to get to 24 teams.

Expanded territory in Louisiana, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. A decent looking western/middle America representation and the East coast locked down.

Further expansion could target Cincy, if they really wanted to put B12 on the back foot.

That might be true, but guess what the ACC network is on every cable in Georgia. So even if they don’t control market, people are paying for that network even if they may not watch. I bet the ACC network will now be added in Dallas tv market etc.

And adding Cal, Stanford, SMU which expand the reach of ACC network means that they will increase carriage fee. ACC network has over 70 million reach on cable and others like Hulu etc. just increasing the carriage fee by .10 would bring in 84 million to network and half of that goes to ESPN.

In the last report every ACC team made $10 million from the ACC network. So that means ESPN made close to $150 million on it.

This is why SMU waved the tv rights for 10 years, they waved the main rights on ESPN, but they will get ACC network fees meaning they will make more than they were getting in the American tv deal.

So markets are important for the ACC network, regardless of whether the school controls that market. And that’s a big plus for USF as a replacement for FSU.

My god, I was listening to a what if scenario for the ACC imploding.

 

This particular person listed Duke, UNC, FSU, and Clemson going to both B10 and  SEC. Then stated that NC State, UL would be in the SEC.

You could legit ask these guys one question about ACC, and then let them talk themselves into a knot.
