Does USF even draw decent tv ratings in Tampa? Are the locals even watching ?

Remember, the USF @ UCF game in 2018 was the most watched G5 game ever.

No one watches a team that wins 4 games in 3 years, regardless of the market ... but when USF is winning, yes people watch them.

Mr. Fletcher’s post IF accurate is why CW Lambert is not a thoughtful poster. The ACC would absolutely add at least 3 more schools to replace FSU, Clemson and UNC to keep themselves above 15, the 3 G5 schools would “replace” FSU, Clemson and UNC which wouldn’t reduce anyone’s member shares, because they would stay at the same number of members.

That is not what Lambert is saying.  He said they added 3 to go from 15 to 18 to ensure they the ESPN deal remains intact when FSU and Clemson leave and take a third with them.

Basically, if FSU, Clemson, and UNC are the only ones who leave -- the ACC does not have to expand to keep ESPN.

Now, we know from the lawsuits ESPN has the option to drop the ACC in 2027... but given how profitable the ACC Network is (as a %%, not total dollars), it's hard to believe ESPN would not keep the ACC.

Kind of reminds me of the Canes. When they are not winning no one watches but if they ever start winning then people will watch.

Definitely that’s why they added three in the first place.

But if you lose FSU, Clemson, UNC and one more to the P2, then you are back to same spot. So you need to add and you need to act schools that will keep and increase ACC network.

I see FSU/ Clemson leaving as soon as they can agree buy out terms. So as I keep saying, for ACC the important steps are:

1. Get ESPN to guarantee tv contract until 2036 as is for the remaining members.

2. Get high enough exit fees from FSU and Clemson to make it harder to financially make sense for anyone jumping to B12

3. Add schools willing to come in for a lower tv amount payment that would improve ACC network

If they can do first 2, then schools like USF, SDSU, Tulane,Memphis etc become big targets.

With 1,2 done it really keeps remaining ACC members making more than they would in B12

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
