We might get into the ACC but it will be in its death throws like the Big East was.  When it falls apart or gets watered down into the next AAC everyone will be miserable again.

I think we were spoiled by that Big East invite.  

I think almost every school would have attendance problems if they were removed from a major conference. Maybe not immediately, but it would definitely negatively affect attendance. 

 

It's like a steak, many people enjoy longhorns or outback steaks but when you have A5 Wagyu or at the very least USDA prime it's hard to go back to ****** steaks.

Totally agree that a portion of our fanbase is contingent on that and some of that is definitely evidenced here, but there is also a portion that will be there regardless of who we're playing ..... even though some of them may whine about it.

I think that invite had some positive effects and some negative ones ...... that's definitely one on the negative side.

When USF is perceived to be playing once again in the major leagues, the fans will return. 

The home attendance for our first 2 years of "major league" conference games averaged 33K. The previous 2 years' "minor league" games averaged 30K. A jump but not a big one. The perfect storm of those 6 weeks in 2007 had a huge effect that carried over through several years.

We'd definitely have a nice jump, if possible in the ocs, if/when we get back there but would only last if we're winning. The winning perception is worth more than who we're playing in the long run.

Well put.  That's my thoughts too.  Winning is the main factor.

Fair assessment. We all know that failure to play POWER-X schools, either OOC or in-conference, kills attendance. This is not USF of thirty years past, where we were just thankful to be playing the likes of Drake, Valparaiso, Elon, Davidson & Illinois State. As in so many ventures, it's either grow or die. People show up to be entertained, because that's what football is: entertainment. LSU at Ole Miss is on one channel. USF at Tulsa is on the other channel.
