Data: Oh please.  Things change all the time.  The big guys don't remain big guys.  Little guys rise up, big guys fall.  Happens in life, and will continue to happen forevermore.

Me: The last time a non P5 team won a national championship was UM in 2001. Of course, they are now in a P5 conference.

Data: Which has nothing to do with my point.

Me: How does pointing out that a little guy hasn't risen up since 2001 have nothing to do with your point that little guys rise up? No one outside of the SEC has won since 2005. The SEC is THE Big Guy.

Not sure how it fits into this argument but a program who had won 4 MNC's in the previous 20 years was NOT a little guy ... You need to go back a lot further than 2001 to find a little guy rising up like that .... I'm thinking leather helmets, maybe no helmets?

No much further back at all.  How about when UM won the first MNC?  FSU?  Neither was that long ago.

UM may have been the last "little guy" but it was back in 83.

But back in 83, even the "big guys" were little guys. The infusion of BILLIONS in TV money has changed that and the divide between haves and have nots is too wide.

No, it really doesn't.  Those on top don't stay there, ever.

That is absolutely correct. Those at the top do change ... in their respective worlds. The point they're making is that the P5 and G5 will be on 2 separate planets starting 2014, for the most part.
