So it is pretty much give them what they want or they leave - and they hold the cards. I think what you hope for are some terms on those automatic bids that would allow them to fall away if certain conditions are not meant - such as requiring all of them to have 10 wins.

Conditional AQs to make it palatable.   Oh well.   About the breakaway, might be a silver lining for us.   Level the playing field.

The ACC can see radical conference realignment in the coming years, and perhaps months, according to PressBox DC's Jim Williams. According to the long-time coll

I doubt that.  If both add a few more teams like FSU to the SEC, etc then they will own the biggest teams. I would not be surprised if the SEC and Big Ten move to 22 or 24 and just break away.  FSU, Clemson go to the SEC with maybe a few others added.  UNC, Duke, Virginia, Kansas all go Big Ten.  I would suspect all sports would break away and they would each carve out a deal for all sports.

The SEC and Big Ten would pretty much own 90% of all seasonal viewership. I know the NCAA has proposed a third Division I tier, but I doubt that would soothe the Big Ten and SEC.

So it is pretty much give them what they want or they leave - and they hold the cards. I think what you hope for are some terms on those automatic bids that would allow them to fall away if certain conditions are not meant - such as requiring all of them to have 10 wins.

From the tweet:

Over the next couple of years is when a lot of the consolidation should either be “completed,” started, or in motion to start. The timeline around this is all based on when Florida State and the ACC settle. Yes it will be for either the 2025 or 2026 athletic seasons when Florida State is in a new conference. Florida State expects it to be for the 2025 academic year for being in a new conference. And, yes, as I have mentioned many times, there is an offer waiting for Florida State to the Big Ten. What the SEC will want to do fill out their movement to keep growing their brand, that will obviously be something that I don’t have total inside on, but from what folks inside athletics have said is that the SEC wants to get UVA and UNC in order to grow their footprint into new states with a good population base.

I still stand by my prediction that USF will still be in the AAC when the stadium opens in 2027.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
