My interest in the B1G and SEC is pretty limited, but I admittedly tune in for the premier matchups. That will likely change if/when they break off or seize all the seats at the table. I don’t imagine I’m alone.

Even the premier matchups will eventually take a hit. The appeal to the rare cross-conference matchups like when Ohio State played a home and home with Texas, or other cross-conference blue blood matchups dies when they're just conference foes and one of them always has 3 or 4 losses.

I believe seeing central florida get a Big12 invite and USF left out was the wake up call that our admins needed. 

 

The past 18 months have mostly been stellar. I wish we had this energy across the board when the Big East was collapsing. 

 

Why didn't we break ground for an IPF/OCS when Taggart was turning the program around?

This absolutely nails it!!

Yes we "happened" to pick the right coaches this time but did we really need to get to this low point in our program?

The last 18 months have been out of the park stellar but it's not just coincidence it's mostly due to our aggressiveness to succeed now that we realize we are being left behind.

Kind of like when spring break was over and you realized that you had a huge research paper due the next day. Anyone reading that procrastinated piece of literature would say man imagine if they started with this urgency day 1. 

However, in the end it doesn't matter bc a decent grade was given and no one will remember. We need to hope that our procrastination leads to that same amount of success

Great question. Seems like admin leadership turnover is the key variable that has changed. Sad they couldn’t figure out earlier that academic and athletic excellence are not mutually exclusive (see Duke, UVa, Michigan, and so on).
