They have pretty solid local fan support. They averaged 36,000 fans despite going 2-10 this season. Those numbers dipped as the season went on, but they were still getting 30,000 at the end.

They do have a staunchly loyal football base, but I assume they'd add little that the ACC wouldn't already have available considering the already heavy NC presence. Even if the lose UNC, they still have NC State, Duke and Wake.

UConn offers big time basketball and fits into their traditional footprint. 

USF offers football potential and fits into their traditional footprint. 

Tulane give SMU some company and bridges that geographic divide. 

West Coast bolsters their presense as a nationwide conference. (I didn't break down the options, but the PAC 2 schools or San Diego State are most likely)

I don't think they add 1... I think they add 4 or more ... any media partner post 2027 will need as much inventory as possible... they may need to add 6 or 8 even.

As a resident of Raleigh I can say ... no. 

I mean it's not a 0% chance.... but there isn't enough sway to get ECU to that level.  ECU doesn't carry that much influence in the state house.

My son went to NCState, and they hated ECU.

No idea if he’s right or not, but his prediction doesn’t make sense to me. FSU will likely be AAU accredited in the not too distant future. UVA is not likely to be nationally relevant in football in the not too distant future. I assume FSU has more tv value based on this.
