Exactly. All at the behest of the “suits” that run the networks. This was a coordinated strategy to diminish the other conferences.

Rant Alert... Not to be Captain Obvious, but the whole "P#" thing was purely a marketing ploy (ESPN) to create a de facto separate higher-level, professional college sports (a.k.a. college football) divi$ion. For most fans this was completely unnecessary because we could already see which schools were the power programs without the "P#" name. Calling them "Power" conferences and relegating others (including USF) as just a "Group" of conferences definitely stuck like a bad nickname. So the marketing ploy worked I guess. And, yes, I'm salty about it.

Exactly!! I kept saying the P5 was a joke and will eventually fall apart.  Same thing will happen to the so called P2 which will eventually fall apart. Basically it is all a money grab. USF will eventually be in a better position so they can grab some of that power conference money imo

The so called power whatever they are going call it will always exist. The P2 will be too big & fall apart due to greed. USF is positioning themselves to be part of the so called power conferences to grab money which is basically the goal in most people’s lives if we think deep about it lol. With the way Tampa Bay has been growing i really don’t see USF being left out of the power conference money grabs for too much longer. TV networks are not going to stop broadcasting college football so hence we will continue to see tons of money thrown their way imo
