USF Hoops doesn’t compete with any local NBA team so that should be good once they start winning. Tampa Bay loves football so both Bucs & Bulls should do well with attendance. If the Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech can sit in the ACC then USF can too…

ACC about to have an open spot...

Possibly ... but I wouldn't be so sure of that.  We could have played down at UT's stadium (before it was renovated)... or they would have delayed starting the team.

Maybe the first year or two?  If I recall we sold it the Sombrero in our debut.

yes it is making even more sense now that FSU will probably have PrimeTime coaching them. I’m sure Big ten or SEC will make that happen. Opps I mean I’m sure ESPN is going to battle it out with Fox on where FSU ends up

Right... Raymond James was not even being considered when USF football was approved to start in 1994... and the Bucs started campaigning for a new stadium in 1995.

But the Old Sombrero was built to attract an NFL team in the 1970s.  When it was built University of Tampa played there instead of their on-campus stadium (go figure).

Not really, we closed off the end zones which is why we did sell out the 49k allotted but easily could have sold thousands more. They wanted everyone sideline to sideline for the optics.  They had strings up to close off the area however the crowd eventually ignored them and spilled over into these seats.  18 inches per ass is asking a lot, even back then.

Yup! I remember that game. That was the day I decided to stay in Tampa Bay and go to USF instead of UF in Gainesville lol. They had the endzones roped off. The Old Big Sombrero could hold about 80k which is why I was able to get Bucs tix for cheap. Now the USF vs WVU game in 2007 went over capacity they said around 70k in a 66k RJS set up.

Yeah, I brought 8 to that first one and many thereafter.

And I'm not sure what the last phrase means but you have piqued my interest.

The seats in Tampa Stadium were 18 inches per seat in my recollection, for those with a wider can that was asking a lot, the ass cheeks would then spillover to the next seat causing a domino effect of a extreme uncomfortable  viewing experience especially in oppressive heat.

Houlihan Stadium, aka Tampa Stadium capacity was 74,301

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
