Cant be suprised espn kille dthe pac 12. The long term goal in my opinion is to kill everything but the SEC and B1g. You have the power 2 and the leftovers group of whatever.

Is ESPN willing to let FSU go to the BIG?  I don't think so.  More likely the SEC so they stay in the family.  But how do you keep others happy in the ACC, if FSU gets a lifeline?

FOX/BIG has been kept out of the south thus far and their viable candidates in FL are Miami and FSU IMO.  But movement on that front seems to be much further down the road!

ESPN doesn't care about the rest just the money. They would be compltely happy with FSU, Clemson, and whoeve rthey felt were valueable going to the SEC. SEC is the best conference, espn owns the rights to it practicall with owning sec netowrk, and owns the playoff committee. Basically if you arent in the SEC or trying to keep up in the B1G arms race your death is coming sooner rather than later.

Would ESPN be happy?

They'd have to pay more than double what they're paying FSU and Clemson right now if those 2 went to the SEC. Seems like bad business right there.

Not really. If FSu and Clemson gave them the GOR break they would get 600,000,000 plus reasons not to care. Then they just poach any team they have value for one by one. They could also state the contract isnt worth as much since FSU and Clemson broke the contract and take it up in court to disolve or give less money pro rata the value. They are very sneaky are building the power 1 Conference SEC .

ESPN would likely end up paying more than that in the long run since they'd have to renegotiate the SEC deal now and again before the ACC GOR expires.

The ACC is happy - sans FSU. If you want to "keep" them happy - give them a slight bump each through the remainder of the deal (say $5M/yr), use that to negotiate FSU's exit (maybe full buyout of $120MM and release them from GOR), then invite USF, and everyone else is happy. This of course means ESPN will be paying ~$120MM more per year, which is a challenge, but if ACC teams are making $$50MM/year, 5-10 more than B12 schools - they'll be more than happy.

Clemson? They get a "cake walk" to the playoffs. FSU? They'll have to fight week in and week out in the SEC-E just to make it to the CCG, which should put them in the playoff (let's be real - the SEC-E isn't putting 2 in the playoff most years, this year would have been fringe with Mizzou added to Georgia). FSU's problem isn't the ACC, it's a status issue. They want to be in the top 5 brands in the country with OSU/USC/Texas/Alabama/Michigan and do not believe they have the resources to compete with those programs once college football becomes an employee model. The ACC? They want to do school good first and compete second, even the U, and most already have those institutional resources to be competitive (FSU/Clem/Louisville smallest endowments in ACC by far).

However, if the SEC or B1G come calling for FSU and they want a second (highly likely), most schools in the ACC would be happy to be the second leg pending the offer.
