It feels like semantics either way to me.  Focusing on the invites (3) years ago is like taking issue with the final nail in the coffin and ignoring us digging our own grave, putting said coffin in, and getting in it.  The point was valid.

You’re saying schools like Louisville and VT would rather stay in an acc without Clemson, fsu, unc, and Virginia than go to a better conference that gets paid more money? We literally just saw this happen to a historically stronger conference than the acc, what’s driving you to think a different outcome will result from the same situation?

The moment the GOR opens up the only OG acc schools left will be the ones the other three conferences don’t pick up. I won’t venture to guess who goes where at this point but we now who will be left behind.  The big 12 absolutely is a part of the equation.

The simple answer is money.  In multiple ways, not just getting more money moving to X conference.  There’s consolidation happening and fewer partners willing to buy.  There’s a lot of fat to trim in the acc, more than the pac had.  

I don’t think there’s going to be a crap ton of playoff spots imo.  The acc is probably going to be a one bid league most years, even with Clemson and FSU still members.  The other three leagues are going to take 10/12 of the spots every year while the acc, mwc, and aac fight each other for the other two spots.  This is until they renegotiate the playoff structure again.
