Only thing I keep remembering about this "insider" is that he thought Memphis had a bigger athletic budget than UConn .....

Additionally - I do not expect USF to receive an ACC invite the second FSU bolts. May take a little bit of time, so as long as we perform well this year in football and basketball, this offseason could be fruitful.

Assuming FSU departs soon (a big assumption), I'm not so sure I agree. The ACC seems terrified about dropping south of 15 teams, based on the decision to add Stanford, Cal, and SMU and the risk of having to renegotiate TV contracts without FSU and Clemson in the fold.

I could see the ACC adding USF and Tulane (both AAU schools, big cities/easy access via nice airports, within the traditional ACC footprint) pretty quickly. Possibly also UConn, but I feel like there are political reasons (Pitt, Syracuse, BC, possibly others) why UConn hasn't already been added.

I don't see the ACC adding anyone on or west of the Mississippi River (including Memphis) that isn't a top 10 academic institution in a big city (looking at you Wazzu and OSU), regardless of what Stanford and Cal think. The B12 schools that might be interested in joining the ACC are subject to the B12's GOR (although I admit that GORs may not be the deterrent that we all thought they were).

If FSU does leave, this might be our best and only shot. The Weatherford brothers should chat or something.

Rather be in the ACC than the Big XII.

No doubt us being possibly ahead of schedule in the winning department under Coach Golesh will be helpful for us.  An OCS is a positive too.

I would implore fans that can to attend home games since having good attendance numbers are helpful as well. Although SMU did get in with low attendance numbers. But still no doubt it is something that is at least under consideration when Power 4 conferences are looking at us, so maintaining our attendance level to at least what is has been in the past, or a bit higher will be helpful.

After the last few weeks with new coaching I feel better about our chances of joining a power 4 conference at some point.

i don't know if I am rooting for this to happen now versus 2-3 years from now. We might benefit from extra time spent in the oven.

I think now.  We might look better in 3 years, but so might our competition.   Maybe the AAU invites other schools, maybe UConn gets good at football and wins 3 more National Championships in BB.  I'm too old to be patient is the bottom line.

Don't think it matters that much. There are no G5's out there with anything near the football success of the 3 the Big 12 poached for the ACC to jump on. If success on the field/court is any kind of a driver, UConn would be the only one with a brand .... and then who knows what other criteria they'll be looking at when the time comes.
