MWC is adding 2 perennial losing teams. If they never figured out how to win in a high-paying conference, what makes you think they will be successful with a pay cut? The have no effect on the MWC surpassing us.

I couldn't disagree more. GSU doesn't give you the Atlanta market. Georgia Tech and Georgia are the kings in that market and except for alum and students no one cares about GSU.  Adding these big metro teams like Rice, and Charlotte is where the AAC went wrong in my opinion.

If we don't add any West Coast teams ( and I still think that should be the focus) we should look to Army, Appalachian State, and Marshall in that order. Other teams to consider if they can have some sustained success are Coastal Carolina and Liberty.

I agree, we gotta get over this "big market" ********. It's a factor for pro sports, but college sports aren't dominated by the urban metro areas. Otherwise NYC would be a HUGE recruiting ground in CFB. If we keep looking to add schools in "big cities" this conference is going to be even worse. It's like we're trying to convince ourselves that having the "Charlotte" market is gonna benefit the conference as a whole.

 the Mountain West is adding teams while we are losing teams. Oregon State is ranked 18th right now. OSU and WSU are still two former Power 5 teams with decent stadiums, fan support, and more history compared to the teams that the AAC added. We have now lost 4 of our best teams in the last year after having have lost U Conn. If I was the Mountain West now would be the time to pounce on the AAC and go after UTSA and Memphis ( hopefully we can get into that mix as well).  Aresco would probably follow that up with a congratulations note. 

Aresco's message to me made it clear that our future is not in the AAC

Either AAC raids MWC when their contract ends or the MWC should raid USF, Tulane, Memphis, UTSA and whoever else.

The top G5 schools need to get a clue here and combine to have a conference that can get a playoff spot or at least own that bid.

Exactly right. WSU and OSU wtf cares. Not needle movers. I think ppl are just throwing them a bone bc they essentially got kicked out of the glorious almighty power status. I feel bad for them though bc at least when we got dropped the haves and have nots were not as clearly defined as they are now. We should welcome them to not purgatory but hell with open arms.

I 100 percent agree. It makes sense on so many levels. But based on what Aresco said today the AAC has no interest in adding the best Western teams since that would not be the interest of our student athletes. Our current leadership is too afraid to rock the boat and that has to change.
