did you read the article? the guy is saying you might have to pay $400-$500 per month just to get the same sports you were getting on cable because they would no longer be subsidized. That's my argument. Basic economics say that there will be far higher prices and far fewer people.

ESPN has the content that people are actually willing to pay for. He was referencing regional channels and team specific channels. ESPN is the gold standard. I did read the article.

But $39 million is all they would receive by being in the ACC?

I am assuming he was using the payout number from this past year.

again espn doesn't own any of the leagues or the content. that's why they want to partner.

those team specific channels like MSG are owned by the teams (which will become much more common now with how cheap streaming is).

espn is not the gold standard. they are just a cable channel that is renting the rights for a little while longer.

Bally's is the same. they are going through bankruptcy and NBA,NHL and MLB teams will all get less and might even start their own networks with how easy it is now.

Aresco failed the AAC. With SMU gone, and the Mountain west likely to add WSU and OSU its clear that this new AAC is on par with the MAC and Sun Belt, and way behind the Mountain West. An AAC team could go 11-1 and still not be in the new playoff system.

Tulane, UTSA, Memphis, USF, ECU, should be talking to each other about joining the Mountain West, or breaking away to form a new conference under new leadership.

They have a small basketball arena at SMU so obviously not talking about BB.  Not baseball either.  I thought they only have club baseball at SMU.  What are we talking about here?  Oh duh, Olympic sports it says.  I didn't realize that SMU had the best facilities and should immediately be used for that.  Has AAC conference tournaments gone to SMU for competitions?  (Since it's top notch I guess).

  • Aresco said the AAC has investigated “a number of options, including consideration of the larger group of institutions in the Pacific time zone,” noting that his league will instead opt to focus its expansion efforts “on schools that allow for sensible and sustainable competition and student-athlete well-being within our strong geographic footprint."

This is a direct quote of Aresco. Source: The Athletic

He should be fired asap. Yes to Charlotte, Rice, and North Texas. No to the Mountain West teams, and OSU, WSU? That's is crazy!

I would like to know what Kelly's thoughts are on this. I really think  he should at least make a statement or lead the way for Aresco's firing. Time to get out of the AAC.

If Aresco is not gone by next week that would be another mark of failure under our current leadership at USF.

I am sure in these uncertain and challenging times AD recommended to offer an extension to all aac conference members for stability.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
