I know what people say but I also know that UNC had a vocal dissent and that is usually an opportunity for compromise, compromise creates opportunity and there is nothing more important in terms of USF athletics than seizing an opportunity to stop the realignment bleeding. We cannot remain in the conference another defection longer, the message is really not great to the college world and our fanbase.

Other conferences don't need/have two FL teams.  ARGH!

Dang looks like it's happening. Once again our $7mil per year is terrible. So the potential for earnings after 9yrs is worth the risk especially considering a low G5 contract value.

Plus the donors are wealthy. So they have a good support system and seem to have it figured out. 

While this is devastating at least it's game day tomorrow.

I understand what he was trying to do. What I'm saying is that it was a bad idea. He could have added UNT, FAU, and Charlotte later. 

Sadly, CFB is all about branding. You either brand up, or you brand down. We chose to brand down under the mistaken impression that we needed to. Those three schools would have joined in the future if SMU, USF, or ECU left. For example, we now know that SMU is leaving. We could have waited and invited UNT tomorrow. They still would have been available and accepted the invite.

ITA.  What kind of an exit fee do we think SMU will have to pay for an early release from the AAC in 2024?
