No matter how we got there we still got there and that doesn’t mean we have to be solely reliant on luck and repaying our karmic debt. We are allowed to try to move up or at least stop moving down by other’s mobility.

We never really got there. Think that Is what you are not understanding. USF got in the big east due to Miami, BC, VT leaving.  Big east was really never a stable conference. I knew back then that USF had better start winning more while in the big east. They probably thought the same and hoped they could replace Leavitt with a coach that could win a conference title. That failed and USF has yet to recover from that mistake imo. Anyone that thinks CWT got USF back to where USF should of been is not paying attention to all the wins that Leavitt had against big schools.

Thanks! Very well said and I been trying to point this out to all those negative Nancies. They are coming off like spoiled brats to be honest. USF fans should remember the Ponderosa days.

So build a reasonable capacity stadium and get back to our roots but even better and actually connected to the campus?

Having taken a well deserved yet unplanned vacation I have had the opportunity to read, digest and reflect on all the dialogue on this once proud thread. We were never going anywhere because our product is awful as of late, you don’t get promoted for performing poorly. I struggle to understand why some are hurt and others are wildly optimistic about these realignment discussions, we are not and were never involved.  Accept our place and hopefully we finally have a good coach and will play our way back to relevancy, until then I will ignore this thread because it simply is not grounded in any reality and is depressing.

That's probably their hope. Or a Big 12 invite. I just don't see them as attractive candidates and see more potential in select G5 schools over them. They're almost destined to remain left behind so might as well be left behind and play regional opponents.

They very well may suck it up and do that.  Or they may fight like hell to retain P5 status.  Being a fan of USF, I'm hoping they try to cobble together a conference of the best of the rest and include us.  I have no affinity for OSU or WSU, but I want to improve our status and desire that they bring us along if they truly want to rebuild.

Getting back to our roots will be when we see USF beating top 25 teams consistently. Being giant killers again

Attendance is not that bad is not growth. Also, it wasn't that hard to find people wearing USF gear in the late aughts. The IPF was too little, too late. USF was mentioned WAY more in the media prior to the last 5 years. Aside from the massive POTENTIAL debt from an OCS, you haven't identified a single objective way that USF has grown. I don't need any more subjective thoughts on this subject. I wish I was as blissfully ignorant to the plight of our program as some of you are. I was once one of the more positive voices on this forum, but the Universe has won. I accept our fate as an also-ran. We will always have the first 9 weeks of 2007. No, we must fight, fight against the dying of the light.

It's not optimism and delusional to take a look at a situation and do things to position yourself better.  That's what USF is doing.

The Scott hire lost us 3 very important years, but here we are.

Yeah plus we had many other seasons that started off well. USF beat FSU up in Tally. Had fun seasons beating Pitt when we were just joining the scene.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
