Do we know who reached out to who in the case of SMU? Have we heard any G5 names outside of SMU offering to whore themselves out to the ACC? My guess is this leaked out because there was serious interest on both sides. It’s entirely possible that USF, and others for that matter, could have reached out and the ACC said “Thanks but no thanks. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” There’s no way to really know what exactly has been going on.

Exactly!! But I guess it is easy for others to put the blame on USF. Things are far from over anyway. Still i think the 3 teams for joining ACC is odd.

Can't trust this school as far as you could throw it to make the right decision regarding football.

They need to make at least two great hires in a row in order for USF to float to the top of G5 schools. That is basically a decade of good football....think about them actually accomplishing that.

Heck I say there should not be any more bad hires. If they find a good coach that has a winning system they better make sure that they keep that rolling kind of like what Boise State has been able to do over the years.

Amazing! Paying them a partial or no share for that!?  I guess they would be only partial members.  That might be why the amount of revenue being offered is so low.  The addition of Cal might devalue the ACC.  Is Cal any good in those sports?

The NFL has an anti-trust protection, so the NFL doesn't have to admit a millionaire who wants to field a professional team.  The NCAA (or any "break away group") will not have those protections.  Anti-trust lawsuits can be both expensive and unpredictable.

they aren't prohibiting anyone from fielding a college football team or starting a competing conference(league).

how come anyone who wants to can't join sec or big 18?

But they have an OCS.  Wait, wrong thread.

Technically you don't need an OCS to be in a power conference. You just need to win and have good TV ratings. I am not really for or against the OCS. It could help in the long run if have decent teams, but it isn't going to fix bad play on the field.  It is not a magic pill, but a long term approach to try to build an identity.
