we were left out of the club. same thing they will do to the dead weight if they reorganize into say a North and South conference.

even if they kept those 4 it would still be 38ish teams. they aren't going to add a bunch of lesser big 16 or acc programs just for the sake of quantity.

I still stand by the fact that almost all of the ACC and big 16 will be left out.

Depends on how the ACC and B16 commish's play their hands..........right now they have the upper hand in BB.  The SEC and B1G can be elitists in FB at he risk of shooting themselves in the foot for BB.  We all know that FB revenue is king but BB is still very relevant.....

Your reason is flawed. There are clearly not enough NFL caliber players to field 20 additional teams. Like any sport, there is a culling of the herd the higher up you go. The jump from high school to college and then from the college to the NFL results in a lot fewer quality players being available at each subsequent level. Hell, the NFL can't even get 30 guys that are good enough to play QB in their league as it is. There are maybe 20 to 24 NFL quality QBs in the league, the others are just filler.

again , there are plenty of players.

will the quality go down if they added teams?

Yes just as it would in college the more teams you add.

you think the QB at the 54th best program will be as good as the one at Ohio State?

you are making my argument for me.

I'm the one that thinks they will want less programs(ie better quality) and more money per school. You get that by limiting the quantity.

football will break off and if they really wanted to pick off kansas, unc, etc they could.

the big 16 and acc have absolutely no leverage when it comes to sec and big 18.

the big 16 had their quality programs picked off already. Texas, Ou, Texas a&m, missouri, nebraksa

what remains is just the leftovers that they don't want.

Boom!! We need more fans like Beaver. The Beaver never gives up. Never gives up on looking at the best outcomes even when the situation is looking terrible…

No offense, but big whoop. This is all about consolidation. They are creating the appearance of fairness for now. The reality is that they are going to get to the point where the semifinals teams are from the B1G and SEC every year. I see things playing out like this: by 2036, the SEC and B1G will take what their media partners want from the Big 12, ACC, and any G5 that might be attractive by then. They will likely get to 24 to 30 teams each, break into 3 divisions, have separate "playoffs" consisting of the division winners and the next best 3 teams. Then the SEC and B1G playoff champions will play in the College Football Championship game.  Everyone else outside of that elite fraternity will be relegated to a lesser division of college football. USF's window of opportunity to not get left out is just about closed. We have about 12 years to make the CFP a few times and win a few games in the playoff in order to be considered. A very tall order when you factor in that the G5 teams are essentially all competing for 1, maybe 2, playoff spots each season.

Yep. Even taller when you consider that USF will have to replace its roster yearly, being one of the better “farm” teams for the haves.

It might actually be better to have a lesser rated team that sticks around and plays together for 4 consecutive years as opposed to the new normal.

Imagine being a coach trying to install a system when you have 50% turnover annually.

You would actually be reducing the number of programs competing for upper tier athletes. There are certainly enough top-level QBs coming out of high school to find 54 decent starting QBs. You are comparing the NCAA to the NFL as if the level of play is equivalent.

Going to be funny to see the whole college football & hoops system collapse . Sure there will be college sports but probably it will get more regulated by an outside governing entity. Will that be good?  We shall see.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
