Sharing with FAU & FIU would cut down on the travel .

And the expense of printing tickets for home games.

Bill O'Brien is a football coach. WTF does he know about what is going on? His job is to win football games, not broker deals for schools to change conferences.

Besides, thinking realignment is not done is not exactly a thin, brittle limb he's going out on.

Of course you could say that about everyone who has commented on this thread.

No doubt.

Ok here is a question about how the GOR works. If the conference keeps the school's media revenue, how is the school paid?

Can a team under a GOR go to another conference and then the conference find another back channel way of making the school whole?

For example, say FSU wants out and goes to Big 12. What is to stop Big 12 from paying FSU some kind of "conference affiliation fee" or whatever as part of a negotiated move.

Can the GOR be handlef the same way a coach handles a buyout? Coaches don't usually pay it themselves, the new school does or a donor does. In this case it may not be feasible, but can it be done in theory?

Also, what happens if someone leaved the ACC before July 1 when the GOR goes into effect?

Is it possible that as of right now and for next 2 months there are still options for us?

The new conference could still share as much money as they want with, say, FSU.  If I understand it correctly, the problem is that the new conference does not have the ability to broadcast FSU home(?) games under their own conference network.  So FSU could be playing in the Big 12, but FSU home(?) games would be shown (if at all) on the ACC Network and the ACC would get the money.  The Big 12 would get zero money so it would be a significant negative cash flow.

Of course, anything is negotiable and most contracts can be broken.  At some point, one school or another will try getting out of a GOR.

Especially if it were ruled that they had been coerced into signing. Then we get back to the whole "abuse of monopoly power" shtick and Congress would likely intervene at that point.

A lot more recent chatter out there about the benefits to the B12 adding USF/UCF; could just be that.

Dave Biddle â€@davebiddle22h Although, several reports say USF and UCF are the frontrunners to fill the two open spots in the Big 12 (which currently has 10 teams).
  1. With the news that the Big 12 will look to add two more teams, have to wonder if the UC Bearcats might finally have a home.

How do these people find "the reports" and or "rumors"? I've tried to google and bing, and I haven't found anything.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
