FSU’s strategy, such as it was, may have failed. Always thought it was a play for leverage. Anyways, this should put the Stanford/Cal to ACC rumors to rest.

I don’t think USF makes sense just because of geography. What would this new conference look like?

If they are adding 4-6 teams from the AAC for an Eastern Wing. We would fit and go along probably: SMU,Tulane,Rice or Memphis.

WEST: Oregon State,Washington State, California,Stanford,SDSU, Colorado State

EAST: SMU,Tulane,Rice,Memphis, USF, UAB

Would it be weird if the AAC randomly died because the PAC died?

Apparently geography, fans, tradition, and rivalries do not matter at all now.

Yeah. Maybe FIU can take USF’s AAC spot whenever it becomes available…

I'd Almost  be sad if the aac died.

I wouldn’t count on it yet. The longer Stanford keeps trying to find other places to land and waits to go forward with rebuilding the harder it will be to get teams to move.

At Four they need to add at least 4, I would say 5 for next year to have at least an 8 game conference schedule.

MWC schools would have to pay 34 million to exit. Don’t see that option for year 1

So really they need to raid AAC, those schools would have to pay an 18+ million exit fee.

Does anyone take that jump without a media deal? How about a GOR or some type of proof that Stanford and others don’t bail after first year?

So the longer this goes the most likely they have to merge with AAC.

I don’t think AAC will die. They will just multiply. They will probably still be around like C-USA or SunBelt. Both those conferences survived after USF left them for dead. USF may have killed the Metro & Big East football but they did not kill off C-USA or the Sunbelt yet…

USF went 8-8 in CUSA after being in the conference for only 2 seasons and finishing no better than fifth. Saying we left them for dead is overestimating our worth considering teams like TCU, Louisville, Houston, and Cincinnati were our conference mates.

Similarly, our 3-28 conference record over the past 4 seasons suggests our value to the conference is not high outside the academic profile. We haven’t done a good job of maintaining our brand and raising the profile of the conference nationally — hopefully Coach Golesh can rectify that.

Starting to look like the PAC4 are going to poach at least 4 from AAC. Kelly and our President better be on the phone with Stanford. Looks like the Tree is making the decisions.

Not really looking like that at all.  Wouldn’t want to leave guaranteed money for that mess anyway.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
