Carrollwood AD, Dean Robinson, quoted as saying "It's more likely than not that the sun will rise tomorrow. But we are still considering all options". 🤨

What if all 4 PAC teams go Indy, agreeing to play each other, and form a scheduling alliance with the MWC. Then they wait and see what happens to the ACC. Once the dust settles there, combine with the ACC and pull SDSU, Boise St, CSU into the fold.

The only flaw I see is, MWC wouldn’t want to have a scheduling alliance with teams that are hoping to poach in the long term.

Does AAU & Big Cities even get them to 8?

USF, Tulane, and RIce fit that criteria.

Well it says “focus” not “minimum requirement.” SMU is not AAU but is ranked something like #73 in USNWR, ahead of USF which is AAU but ranked somewhere in the 90s. I expect it would be USF, Tulane, Rice, and SMU in 2024 - if indeed this is Stanford’s priority.

They are taking Memphis and SMU for sure. This expansion talk has been forever and it is stupid but I feel like some form of this will actually happen. I think ACC is a better fit/idea but there doesn’t seem to be any momentum towards that idea.

I think it’s always the same issue with Memphis: academics. It’s not AAU and ranked #263 in USNWR. Fair or not, if academics is an important criterion, Memphis doesn’t make the cut. PAC would only need 8 total (technically not even that), and the four listed above have better metrics. That said, I’d be fine including Memphis instead of Rice.

Agreed. I feel like it would be legit. I just want to be at 10-12 so if teams leave the conference isn’t dead
