I don't see any scenario where Oregon State and Washington State end up in the AAC. If Cal and Stanford go to the ACC those two will almost assuredly go to the MWC. There just isn't enough of a disparity in annual revenue between the MWC and AAC to justify the add expense, especially to their non-revenue sports.

The All Coasts Conference: Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific.

We could talk condescendingly about the other conferences like the rich and call them flyover conferences since we are the coastal elites.

I wouldn't. The $200 million to get into a power conference is the best use of funds at this point. It's a moot point because we can barely rub two nickels together at this time, but if we had the ability to buy our way into a power conference it would make sense. I always thought that was Memphis's best way in with the Fed Ex founder being an alum.

Everyone keeps saying this is a consolidation, not a realignment/expansion.

Does the G5 consolidate? Maybe if there is G3 or 4, then there is a better shot at snagging that still available playoff spot given to the G conferences

At the rate these things explode and everyone stabs each other in the back, when would we get our money back?  If say the media companies explode.

That's the risk you would be taking on. However, the risk to the University is virtually zero if they have wealthy donors footing the bill.  If SMU were able to get into the ACC and win the conference once in the 5 years they are playing for free, that would also open up the avenue to get picked up by another conference in the event the ACC completely collapsed. They would be far more attractive than any of the remaining teams in the ACC at that point.

I’d put $200m into an athletics endowment and use the interest to pay NIL.  That would give our top 85 athletes over $188k/year and that would attract enough top talent to kill it in whatever conference we’re in.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
