PAC4 had preliminary talks with MWC about merging. Stanford said they would not be a part of said merger as did Cal. ORST and WSU may be left with all assets and rights of the PAC. Meeting with Apple that was to follow to discuss expansion did not occur.

 

 

This is probably old news to everyone, but it's interesting.  How does it get determined who has the assets and rights...the last team left?  

It's insane to me how a prestigious POWER 5 conference not just in title but auto bid, history, etc... is now just thrown around like a rotten hot potato that no one wants to end with. 

Just crazy. Like the MW and AAC would've loved a shot at a 20M per school contract and an auto bid. Really shows the disparity between programs.

Actually it seems that a lot of dominoes are falling USF’s way. The point is that we will not see many media experts put USF’s name out there because we are under their radar.

Navy plays football in the AAC but all other sports in various conferences, much like Wichita State being a member of the AAC - just no football team.  Again, the only value to going with the PAC 2.0 would be if somehow that new conference held onto the auto-bid playoff (as configured for a 12-team playoff) spot. Kind of like a low-rent way of a seat at the Big People's Table without the risk of having to play a real P5 (P(x) - however you wish to identify the conglomerate) schedule week in and week out.

I think SMU & Tulane since I believe they are both AAU. USF may get some interest but I believe we will end up in ACC instead

Money has been destroying college football for decades. Regional rivalries was a big part of the game.  Cap coaching salaries and let's get some parity wouldn't hurt either.

The regional breakups are kinda terrible.  It would be nice to be able to take a road trip to at least see the no-parity farce.
