They lost the 4 most viewable programs. What does ESPN have to fill their late night time slots on their networks? Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah?

This was a power play by the B1G with FOX/CBS/NBC and they won. They will have better inventory to fill, especially in the late slots.

Most people are going to tune in to watch Michigan @ Oregon, Penn State @ USC, Ohio State @ Washington, etc. than anything ESPN and the Big 12 can offer. The B1G TV networks can easily appease the East Coast B1G teams that travel West by giving them their BYE week the week after they travel.

ESPN late night will be boise state vs san diego state, etc.

ESPN didn't care about keeping the Pac together. They could have easily done it when Apple was the highest bidder at like $20m + subscribers. Notice how the Big 10 didn't save the Pac either.

ESPN couldn't afford to overpay. Their profits are down 29%

ESPN and Fox are splitting up the country.

ESPN dominates the South (which by the way is far more valuable than the north west).

Fox is taking north and west. They will eventually come together to form a national league.

what you have to understand is that the industry is going through consolidation. they all have to cut costs. ESPN is laying off people. They will have to decide what content they can pay up for.

It seems pretty clear they are going to pay up for NBA and other properties and let college football in the northwest go.

Big 10 and SEC will break off. NFL lite

There will be plenty of solid programs left. Hopefully they get back to common sense.

What can/should the ACC do now?

Add USF & UConn to help save the ACC kind of like USF helped the big east back then…

FSU and Clemson are going to be added to Big Ten.

A little run on the final brands left, then

Think positive. Too many people have interest in this such as Syracuse who does not want their conference to implode and leaving them on the outs.   I agree ACC is dead conference walking.  I think our stadium is more critical now than anything we have ever done.  Next up, Coach G needs to win.

The past 25 years of realignment has been expansion - get bigger brands, more TV markets, etc. But when Oregon/Wash are taking a half-share… there’s clearly diminishing returns on “bigger,” which makes me wonder if the *next* round (2030ish) involves jettisoning dead weight.

Good point.  If conferences are relegating teams, how would we get promoted?

He's spot on. The golden goose (carriage fees) is dead. Time for consolidation

It's ok...USF will never be a blue blood so P2 is out hopefully we can get in position for future ACC...but yes CAG has to get this program back on track.

Does that mean that the ACC will add replacements?  Do they need teams in those areas?  Wouldn't their contract length make it cost effective for them to just keep collecting their current reimbursement amounts without having to further divide up the pie?  Additions will have to add value at that point.
