Yes their natural inclination is to band together and regionalize. Do I think that they would be spiteful over millions of dollars each? Absolutely not but I also think if we were that distinguishably more valuable we would not still be having these conversations and hanging on every glimmer of hope.

Now the new GOR (should they go with that handicapping protectionism again) would have the venue clause found it pretty much every contract (probably wasn't as important to the all Texas conference they got it from) but that doesn't mean if there isn't an impactful dollar difference you don't bring up cultural differences and vote ECU as them Florida folk cannot be trusted.

Yes most people do not like when they believe people screwed them and do not look to do favors for them when they do not have to do so. Call it a grudge if you would like but if someone asks but why not USF the response will be somewhere along the line of " 'cause f'em that's why (but with more bless their hearts and over yonders)".

Sure ... but it's fait acompli.  FSU is out... Clemson is out... UNC is probably out.

The only question is when and how much.  No reason to try fighting against that tide.

They won't roll over and let it happen like the Pac 12 is doing... because the Pac 12 GOR expires next June - so the ACC "remainders" will publicly posture, but they realize their best bet is inviting the best schools remaining, and that would have to include USF, U Conn, etc.

And yes, I suspect the "New ACC" would have a GOR that avoids this loophole.

the article above and the paper today says their buyout is $120m plus GOR which if negotiating a buyout could mean close to $500m total. That's insane and if financed could mean they get what they currently get for the next 13 years. essentially they would be no better off financially until the GOR actually expires even if they move conferences.

With the hope of the BIG taking them losing momentum, FSU may be looking at this a bit differently.

Don't really have time to engage. I'm on here waiting for the floor to dry so I can do laundry. My life is much different than it was 6 months ago.

You are doing a great job, I find your commitment inspirational but doubt I would have it in me to actually do it. Until marginal inconvenience do us part.

But when you start doing a different time zone every week (or 2 or 3 hour change) will wear on you. Even though UConn from FL is a 2.5 hour flight it isn't the same thing as flying 3 hours to a Mountain Time zone game. I don't believe college teams fly out 2 or 3 days before a game to adjust. They fly out the day before, play, and get on a plane to come back.

What it will probably hurt the most is all the other sports besides football but I guess money talks lol

I don't think it is an automatic black ball but it will certainly have people looking for more reasons to pick someone else than reasons to include us. We are too close to the argument so we see ourselves as an obvious choice, sadly 20 rounds of picking and us still sitting by the phone shows that the distinction to the pickers is not as obvious as we see it.

Sure... but remember, these decisions are made by network executives who care about ratings and markets ... and by University Presidents who care about their image as well as the money from the network executives.

I can tell you as someone who lives in Tallahassee and is surrounded by FSU students and alumni on a daily basis (including my wife and brother-in-law), FSU's carnival barking earlier this week has them all fit-to-be-tied. At this point, anything less than leaving the ACC and joining either the B1G or the SEC would be a massive disappointment. They are arrogant and entitled. And angry, because their rival down the street is making double plus what they make.

You know what they say about burning bridges...

FSU is setting up the position that the ACC is breaching its fiduciary duty to its members by failing to explore expansion and revisit its television deal. The ACC is afraid that any changes would potentially open the GOR issue. It is the strongest legal argument that they have to date to try and find a way out of the GOR. It certainly would tie things up legally for a few years absent an injunction.

I think most TV executives are going to care more about paying the gutted ACC rock bottom dollars than are going to care about how to strengthen and empower it. University Presidents can absolutely be spiteful, especially if they are public and get to hear from state governments that are absolutely a spiteful bunch.

If every major school in Florida was in a conference and then a school from another state singly handedly destroyed the conference with the aid of their government how do you think the Florida government would respond to a new school from that state trying to join that conference?
