Agreed. I just don't think it'll be just two schools that leave, if any leave.

Yeah, I hear ya. I just think the B1G is in a bit of a pickle with USC and UCLA being the only west coast teams. I would have thought they’d be all in on Oregon and UW to help out.

We're back to discussing the potential for having 2 schools on an island (UConn and UCF) if they went to 14 and added UConn. I still believe that UConn is not interested in going to the Big 12 because their basketball supporters don't want to have what they had in the AAC all over again.

I see your point, but I don't think this concern over "islands" is really a thing. If it were, they wouldn't have added WVU without Cincy, and they wouldn't have added C. Florida without us. Plus, the B12 commissioner loves basketball. UConn is a blue-blood in that sport. Given the difference in $$$ and stability it'd offer to both BB and FB, I'd be very surprised if UConn turned down an offer to join the B!G.

But let's play it out. Say UConn isn't offered or decides against going to the B12. I think it comes down to Tulane and USF. Kind of a toss up in my mind, although USF has more growth  and recruiting potential. I don't think wins and losses would be the deciding factor between those two.

They were also talking Gonzaga for hoops only a few weeks ago.

Why go to the Pacific Northwest when there is more fertile expansion areas in the Southeast?

This may have already been stated, but how is it that the B12 and B1G want to raid these PAC 12 schools because of their value, but as a conference together they have no value?

That's my thought too.  The irony!

Agreed but that solution appears to be losing momentum.

Let's say they add UConn. How long before UConn and UCF begin to complain, and rightfully so, about how many trips they have to take to the Mountain Time Zone for all of their sports?

I don't think they care that much. It's more than made up for by the $$$ coming in. C. Florida knew what they were getting into travel-wise, and did it anyways. I suspect UConn would as well. And dividing into west/east divisions ameliorates the problem somewhat.

If the Pac-12 can keep Oregon, they have a new flagship school. Oregon is smart, b/c their biggest challenge to a conference title is USC. The Big 12 has taken the best team and all of the bottom dwellers from the Pac-12. Oregon has a much easier path to a conference title and playoffs. I feel if the Pac-12 adds the school below they will end up having more football success as well. Besides USC, all the other schools leaving the conference (UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, and CU) have been trash. CU might have a resurgence with Coach Primetime, but the others will stay trash.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
