Adding FSU doesn't really help the SEC . They already have by far the best football and athletics programs.

It helps the SEC as far as taking away an option for B1G to get into the Florida markets. It also makes the UF/FSU rivalry a conference game, guaranteeing that's SEC media revenue every year, not just the years it's played in Gainesville. And also likely ends up being UF's highest rated conference game every year.

you're either growing or you're dying.

SEC/B1G don't need to do anything else at this point. Sure they could grab more schools but they will never be dying at this point.

Helps them lock down Florida at the same time making sure Big Ten doesn’t invite both FSU & Miami. More people have been moving to Florida so I don’t think one school located in Gainesville is going to cut the mustard long term

I don't see SEC adding another Florida team. I don't see UF allowing that to happen. If they are smart, they just saw how this played out with USF/UCF

With the B1G now being linked back to west coast schools (OU/UW/STAN/CAL) IF the remaining 4C schools go B12, mixed with the extremely unaffordable and borderline reckless decision to try to leave the ACC this early, that may stall B1G expansion in the South by forcing them to focus out west first. This could be good for USF, but could also be bad considering FSU will not be leaving the ACC any time soon (think 5-8 years instead of 3-4). I almost think this would be better for us to right to ship and become relevant before the pieces in the south/east start moving.

And just like that gswaim is reporting that the SEC is now setting up a meeting to discuss adding 4 teams as they don’t want to miss out on potential ACC schools….

Verified?

I believe GSwaim has the latest in that the SEC are now joining the conference alignment fun. And I won’t be shocked if they go after the big 12 once again.

Disagre... I would be shocked.

I mean, who will the SEC take? Kansas? Iowa State?

I don't see the B1G or SEC taking any more B12 teams at this point.  The only really viable teams at that level would be Oregon, Washington, maaaybe Utah... and then the top of the ACC (FSU, Clemson, UNC, Miami, UVa, maaaybe VT or NC St).

Texas A&M felt the same way with regards to SEC inviting Texas so now anything is possible. It will all come down to how much FSU can bring and I do believe they have an outstanding brand to sell.

probably what the pac 12 thought when they had big 12 on the ropes.

The SEC or Big 10 could go after one another. killing off the less aggressive conference. similar to NFL/AFL merger.

Never say never but I don't think there's any way one of those conference gets "killed off". They're different animals than the PAC 12/Big 12 ...

I added after your quote but it could be similar to NFL/AFL merger.

Form one league (2 conferences) and break off from the rest of college football.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
