But we got AAU :(

In terms of athletics that doesn't amount to much of anything.

My hope as to what happens now ( assuming we don't get ACC invite).

Big 12 adds Arizona

Big 10 adds Oregon, Stanford, and Washington.

Pac adds San Diego State, SMU, Boise State, Fresno State, Memphis, Army, Navy, Air Force, Tulane, and USF.

That would be a huge upgrade but don't think it happens.  I think ASU, Arizona, and Utah go to B12 . With all the better teams leaving the pac, I doubt the tv deal will be that lucrative.

I agree the networks are behind this, but I disagree their plan is to

- Stabilize the Big12 and give them a raise

- Wait for Pac12 to get poached more

- Come back, potentially years later, and re-raid the conference they helped stabilize

Networks could have easily told the Big12 to take a hike a la Pac12, but they didn't.  I think the Big12 contract was just setting the market for "mid-majors" or however you want to classify non-Power2.  And now the ACC has to worry about that being the ceiling for them instead of the SEC/B1G.

The cannot completely destabilize college football. It is a process and it has been a long one at that. By stabilizing the Big 12 they were able to destroy the PAC and allow themselves time to decide which of the remaining teams they will ultimately want. Why do you think the B1G is all of a sudden interested in adding additional teams from the PAC? They could have had any of those teams when they decided to add USC and UCLA. The only logical explanation I can gather is that their TV partners instructed them on what to do and when to do it. I am also not certain that they won't land on 4 Super Conferences (SEC, B1G, ACC, Big 12) rather than 2 Mega Conferences. It's all about keeping their options open and adding incremental value to the massive TV deals.

If the Pac gets plucked to death AAC and MWC need to be aggressive and merge.

Regarding ACC, us and UConn need to simply be the "best" options out there. Adding allows for negotiation of contract where FSU and Climps'n can receive higher rev share. Everyone else can be neutral or get a market adjustment and be grateful they are where they are.

Apparently this doesn't matter in CFB.

AAU mattered in CFB once when it was about college football.  Now it is turning into a pro-league and business where the only thing that matters is viewership and Tv/steaming dollars.  Ain’t gonna help us.

Read somewhere on Twitter today that the PAC12 would need to get about 36M subscriptions on AppleTV to equal BIG12 money... but AppleTV currently only has 36M subscribers... Good luck lol

The FSU Board of Trustees meeting has been OUTSTANDING.   They.  Want.  Out.  Fast.

Not just subscribers to AppleTV ... but subscribers to the ADD ON PACKAGE.  Pac12 would not be included in the base subscription -- Apple proposed to make it the same as MLS ... an extra subscription package for the season.

they didn't need to give the big 12 all that money to destroy the pac 12. there is no conspiracy.

the pac 12 tv deal is up next year.

the offer to the pac 12 will be what most tv deals look like going forward. get used to it.

profits are down 29% for espn. they have the NBA negotiations coming up.

the goose that laid the golden egg is dead.

this article states that they would have to charge $40-$50 per month for streaming just to equal what they bring in in carriage fees.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
