I don't know. I don't think any conference would have guaranteed us a spot for building the OCS; especially with the fact that the chess board of conference realignment is changing every minute.

Now I am sure we were told that building an OCS would be helpful for our situation if we also started winning.

That’s why they did push it through. They know something. They wouldn’t have don’t that otherwise.

Like 14 years late though. Imagine, we just finished the 2007 season after climbing all the way to number 2. The season ends, and USF announces the OCS and an IPF. We would have been ACC bound for sure at that point.

Can't say we're doing nothing! And with respect to my previous post, only Rice, USF, and Tulane are AAU schools. Houston and Tampa are both top 15 media markets (New Orleans is #50).

Unlikely in any case but if it were to happen, there'd have to be a new east coast division to make sure we're not all watching CFB until 2 a.m. every Saturday night.

Is it what I want, no.

Is it better than what we currently have, yes.

Whatever the PAC becomes, it will likely be the 5th best conference, we are currently in the 6th or 7th best conference. We need to take steps up, so yes, I'm in.

Best scenario we would only play out west like once a year and a west team visits the east once....so most of our games be still pretty normal time.

Atleast that's how I would do it.

The problem is we applied to a PAC that will lose more of it's existing members. Who knows how it will look. It could end up being worse AND a nightmare of travel.

The travel concerns for the B12 with UCF sitting so far away from their conference mates should carry more consideration in current realignment.  Obviously adding USF would help that.  The bonus would be having two games in FL each season.  Get to visit Tampa and Orlando both.  I have often wondered if the B12 was afraid to give FL teams too much power by having more than one conference member.  I mean them being Texas-centric.  But if the B12 doesn't pursue us, their loss.  We may get a look by the PAC.  AAU is pretty beneficial.

What does the AAC look like if we don't apply, and the PAC takes: SMU, Tulane, Memphis and ECU for an Eastern division, and the AAC fills in with FIU, Texas State, Ga State, and Marshall.

I certainly agree. I was all for it going back before that. However, even Leavitt wasn’t sold on an on-campus stadium. He was quoted many times indicating that Raymond James; “Is one my best recruiting tools.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
