Do it again, but ask it why we shouldn’t be considered for expansion.

Sorry, I can't bring myself to do it. Too depressing.

So embrace the suck ... do we embrace the people who got Jim first and the ad who has guided football into the worst state in its history?

I say we start winning games. Embrace USF football as I do believe we will get 6 or more wins if we are 3-2 after the Navy game..

SIX wins should be the floor with any competent coach in the new aac.

Nothing new in this CFN article, but it is a good, succint write up about conference expansion.  Bottom line for us is Memphis, Tulane and our Bulls to the Big IX.

Good point.  I have the same feeling about the gators and their arrogant fans (most of which have zero affiliation with the university)

So, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and we were newly washed ashore on the peninsula, all my wife's friends were HUGE fans of UF. In keeping with their rich tradition of not being alumni, but one, I found their arrogance off putting. As such, I felt it incumbent upon me to become a HUGE fan of Florida State. The punchbowl that I will not pee in has yet to be invented. Soooo thankful USF got into the football bidness, so I had a real connection and did not have to always have that uncomfortable conversation of “No, I’m not an alum, just a fan.”

Interesting.  I am living proof of evolution.  As a seventh-generation Floridian, born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, I grew up as a fan of the Gators, attending their games and those of the UT Spartans.  I wet to a couple FSU games during the Bill Peterson era and watched the Noles go from so-so, to awful to great and became a certified fan as Bowden started his "road warrior" rebuild of the program.  After USF and a first career, I went back to FSU and cemented my love of the Noles.  All that changed when USF started its program and I only had the emotional, temporal and financial bandwidth to support one team and went all-in on the Bulls.   Now, after more than a quarter century of that and the so many changes in the college football landscape, I have difficulty mustering the enthusiasm for any of them and really enjoy small college football here in Carolina.  Still, my heart will always be with the Bulls, even if it has been broken oh so many times.

P.S.:  i also note that my father had the distinction of attending FSU's first football game and USF's first game as well.  Pretty cool.

Again, NOTHING will ever change the past. Has NOTHING to do with embracing anything.  My comment had NOTHING to do with VPMK. Absolutely no one is happy about where we are, but we’re here. Continually griping about it here, again, will change NOTHING.

You're falling into the trap!

Meaningful is in the eye of the beholder. Not sure how it worked back in the BCS days, but if 1 played 2 for the natty and 3 played 4, I'd call the 3v4 bowl fairly meaningful. Other than that, you may have had some good matchups but they were still basically exhibition games ... and the point of playing for 99% of teams is that it's college football.

In the BCS era they had the four big bowls one of which was the national championship. The other 3 were generally the other top 8 teams. This varied due to the BCS rankings being different from all the polls. Regardless, the fiesta was a top 4 bowl during the BCS era. So three wins in a BCS bowl seems pretty meaningful to me

I am still a disbeliever in the value of bowl games and so therefore their fun stuff just like some other schools’ fun stuff is nice for the school but it’s not a real game.

Maybe they had one that was meaningful, I’m not sure.

The value in bowl games isn't the game.  It's the extra practices the team gets.

Boise State would not have made it in the first iteration of the BCS.

The "non-AQ" conferences (including the WAC at the time) raised a stink so the 4 bowls went to five, and a spot was reserved for the top non-AQ team.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
