The indifference is similar to mine, except I don't know if they win or lose except the week they're on our schedule.  However, for about the last 40 years I have enjoyed every loss, downturn and unfortunate event bestowed upon UF.  So if "hate" is the driver.  I'll take the Gators.  See, we have a problem.

Good point.  I have the same feeling about the gators and their arrogant fans (most of which have zero affiliation with the university)

So, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and we were newly washed ashore on the peninsula, all my wife's friends were HUGE fans of UF. In keeping with their rich tradition of not being alumni, but one, I found their arrogance off putting. As such, I felt it incumbent upon me to become a HUGE fan of Florida State. The punchbowl that I will not pee in has yet to be invented. Soooo thankful USF got into the football bidness, so I had a real connection and did not have to always have that uncomfortable conversation of “No, I’m not an alum, just a fan.”

Kind of a similar background, although had a friend in hs who went to FSU on a scholarship so that cemented it for me. Funny thing is, back in those days the Gators sucked .... think that's where I first heard the "wait until next year" mantra ... and if the fans hadn't been, by and large, arrogant ********, I probably would have gravitated towards them because I love the underdog.

Dan Jenkins, famed sportswriter, nailed it back then ...... Gator fans "have the arrogance of Notre Dame and the history of Wake Forest."

I wonder who we have the arrogance of? I know our history, 😂

The most arrogance our fan base has ever shown was in the idea that Jim Leavitt underachieved and had to go.  Fortunately most of those bozos are gone too.

We certainly paid for the decision with lots of losses.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
