I don't know if they would wield that type of power. I think its more likely that you would see the playoff system go from 12 to 16, and where most if not all of the extra spots would go to the SEC and Big 10.

If the TV partners want it, it'll shift that way. It's why the BCS and CFP favored 6/11 and 5/10 conferences. You'd think the other half would have equal power but they don't.

Yeah I was thinking when WVU got invited to the big 12 that they were in the same boat as USF in the big east. They just got fortunate to get a life boat at that time. However I don’t think many have been paying much attention to WVU ever since they left the big east. It further supports my point that many so called big fish in small ponds get forgotten when they enter the big ponds. USF still has the opportunity to become the big fish in a small pond and then I do believe conferences like the Big Ten or ACC will come calling

But that's because teams like West Virginia, Louisville, Rutgers, Syracuse haven't been able to find great success since having joined power 5 conferences. Pitt and TCU on the other hand have found success recently. There's nothing that precludes those  teams from finding success. When we get the call up we have to be able to do better. We were able to do so when in the Big East. Those were our best years

Yes exactly. I just can’t see two huge power conferences lasting long. TV money will dry up among all those mouths to feed. I remember when the WAC tried something like that and they eventually broke apart and we got to see the MWC be born from that disaster

Both Pitt & WVU found success with good coaching hires. However nothing about those two schools tell me that they are power schools. I would not be excited about playing or beating those two schools to be honest. Pitt needs an OCS and TCU has terrible fan support kind of like SMU does.

Personally, and every person will look at this differently, but when I look at my top 15 USF wins of a time, 2 of those wins are against West Virginia, and one of those wins is against Pitt.

A win against Pitt or West Virginia even today is worth more then any win against any team in the current AAC with exception of a ranked Tulane for as long as they are ranked.

Good news is that P2 can’t take all of the top 6 rated conference champion spots starting in 2024. However we may see that P2 break apart and form multiple conferences to be able to take those 6 top conference spots lol

The P2 are not likely to break up. If they do, it'll be to kick out the dregs so that conference consisting of the dregs will definitely not be a threat for one of the 6 champ spots. What's more likely to happen in imo is that the P2 will push to reduce the number of slots for conference champs down from 6 to 4 or less, freeing up more at large spots for them.

Even at the top, they will soon begin eating their own.

There's definitely a size limit before it gets clunky but a large SEC and B1G are in a different universe than a 16 team WAC.

I don’t recall Taggart coaching in the Big East. Maybe the BE were are most consistent years that had some form of sustained success.

Taggart really didn't win many games against ranked opponents. The consistency and big wins that came while in the Big East, in my opinion ( and I know that's subjective), were far more impressive then anything we did while in the AAC. Beating ranked Notre Dame, FSU, West Virginia, Auburn,... all came while we were in the Big East

We  all know how terrible coaching hires set  you back. We went from a top 50 program to the bottom of fbs football. Only one coach  has had a winning record since Leavitt was fired. We are 0-4  on finding a successful coach with sustained success for more than two seasons. Maybe Golesh is the outlier or the answer to our prayers.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
