Correct. The legal dispute is whether they can break the GoR or not. Some say yes. Some say no.

To resolve the legal dispute, they agree to terms. FSU gets more money, which is what they want, but they also agree to stay in the ACC. The others keep the conference going for another decade, which is what they want, but with smaller payouts. That’s all I’m saying.

Do FSU, UM, et al have landing spots in better conferences? Who knows. That’s the bluff/leverage these schools have against the rest of the ACC to renegotiate the GoR. Sure, the other schools could sit back and do nothing, relying entirely on the strength of the GoR (figuring FSU can’t leave even if the Big Ten or SEC would take them). But what if FSU sues under some clever legal theory? Do the other schools want to defend a lawsuit that could drag on for years, even if they’re right? And what if they’re wrong and FSU wins? That’s a lot of uncertainty.

Just my two cents.

Not sure what the general consensus is, but you would have to structure it based off of performance. Otherwise you are just giving FSU, Clem and whoever else more money so they can build the buyout money faster. Then they leave.

And to add to that the big 12 might invite Uconn & Gonzaga. Basically they are becoming a hodge podge of nothingness

Sounds like this is solely the Big 12 commissioner exploring options and the Big 12 Presidents may resist this.

Why add a non FB member?

I also have a difficult time believing UConn would do this. Their fan base wanted out of the AAC because of who they were playing in Basketball and the travel involved with it. I highly doubt their fans would be excited about trips to Provo, Lubbock, and Ames.

Exactly. I doubt UConn would move theirs hoops out of big east basketball unless it was for an all sports ACC invite. I guess what I am assuming is that we are hearing nothing but wishful thinking from the big 12 supporters. Basically I think they are stuck with what they have for now. I don’t think they will be able to lure any other schools from power conferences. The reality is their image took big hits when Texas, OU, TAMU, Mizzou left. Hard to sell other power schools to come to that newer conference imo

I could be wrong but havent TCU, Baylor been better than either of those in football as well as Baylor and Kansas, even K-State in hoops?  I see no reason to put down the Big12.  They’re weakness in the teams they added is yet to be seen.

TCU is always going to feel like a C-USA school to me since USF used to beat them back in our C-USA days. I will always remember Baylor as the school that backed out or their return trip to USF. So to hell with them lol

There are a lot of teams we used to beat in the ACC too.

Yes. Pitt, UL, Clemson, FSU, UNC, NC State, Miami, GT, Cuse. Did I miss anyone? So at least they should know USF is capable of competing in the ACC.

Couldn’t all the teams in the ACC agree to renegotiate a better TV deal?? They have all the eastern markets so I find it hard to believe that they will fall down

All the ACC are pretty much in agreement they'd want to renegotiate the deal. But the TV partner has to agree. ESPN has no reason to renegotiate when it's got the ACC locked in at great value for 13 more years. That was the tradeoff they agreed to for investing in the ACC network, ESPN wanted this longer deal to get their return on investment.

Isn’t ESPN going broke? Wonder if they would want a better deal too??

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
