He also missed out on Alex McGough from Gaither. Believe it was Skip's staff that passed over him. Funny thing is now McGough is Skip's QB with the Birmingham Stallions. He set records at FIU and is in the running for MVP of the USFL.

Skip has a brilliant offensive mind. As someone mentioned earlier, he could have brought in different assistants. When he went to La Tech I believe he had Manny Diaz as DC the first year and they did really well.

Yes definitely. Skip was able to rebound and save his coaching career at La Tech and I believe he did a decent job. And now he is a head coach at the pro level with a championship under his belt. Not too bad.

It's that key last sentence "if/when there's a finalized TV deal they're happy with." That's been the crux of all this Big12-Anon stuff. There's very little consensus on what the Pac's TV deal will be worth and if it'll be enough to keep the teams (specifically the Arizona schools, Colorado, and Utah) happy. The Big 12 whackos are all convinced it won't be and they're ready to poach the Pac-12 schools, but if the money is close to even, the Pac schools are likely to stay. And apparently the TV deal has gone past several self imposed deadlines that the Pac Commish had set forth for when they'll know what the TV deal will look like.

I do think that gave landlocked Orlando school an edge over us in the last round though.  I don't think we came across as serious about this until recent years.

Orlando has always been way more aggressive than Tampa when looking to the future. Tampa has always reacted to circumstances and almost never taken a chance. Maybe the Bucs are an exception. Although I hate almost everything about Orlando.

From Wikipedia  -  School officials were dissatisfied with the... lack of revenue generated from games. The stadium's capacity (65,000) was considered too large for the Knights, and the location off-campus was considered a significant factor in the inability to sustain a sizeable student section.

This is just one example of where USF failed miserably...IMO.

So, I haven't kept up too closely with the shifting sands of realignment. From a USF perspective (the only perspective I really care anything about), wouldn't the PAC-12 sticking together be better for our prospects? Because it would leave some potential spots open for us in the Big 12?

Yes, the PAC12 staying together is a good thing for USF.

I wonder if the performance based payout the ACC has announced will have any bearing on the PAC12? Maybe not necessarily the TV deal as a whole, but how it's split.

Welp looks like the PAC 12 will become the hunter instead of the prey now. Big 12 will probably lose some schools…

Definitely! I always thought PAC12 had more prestige than the big 12. PAC12 still should have the Rose Bowl tie in which is pretty huge compared to other bowl tie ins
