I don't like to speculate, but if FSU goes to SEC, which I hope they do, it seems Miami and USF would be a no-brainer for them.  Wouldn't they want a presence against the SEC for recruiting, TV, Winter conferences (😂 ) etc in one of the largest states in the US of A?  This seems like if USF had its **** together, it would be a natural.  But, I'm biased.  Then again a 35K stadium might not be attractive.

Northwestern is building a new stadium that has 35k capacity so that may not be an issue

Yes, the B1G would love to have the presence within the state of Florida against the SEC. How that unfolds is anyone's guess.

The thing I cannot understand is how does the SEC adding FSU (and Clemson) increase the value of their TV deal. Adding UNC and Virginia to the SEC makes so much more sense to expand the footprint of the conference and gain the value in a TV deal.

B1G member Northwestern is going to be building a new stadium that will seat 35,000, so I don't think the size of the stadium will matter as much as the value of what annual TV revenue would bring in.

What if that 35K seat stadium is expandable to 135K seats? Checkmate sir

Maybe I've missed it, but has VPMK or anyone else directly addressed the need to design the stadium to be expandable? I mean, they're not building a 35K stadium that can't be expanded, are they? That would be... shortsighted.

as cord cutting continues to accelerate, you will see cable tv deals go the way of the dinosaur. How big their tv market is won't matter anymore.

once ESPN is forced to go streaming, look out.

MLB , NBA, NHL are seeing firsthand how contracts will get reworked in the Bally bankruptcy negotiations.

Selling streaming subscriptions will matter and my guess will be that the top schools will stop subsidizing the lower tier eventually.

hypothetically, Ohio State won't want to give Northwestern a dime of their 1m+ subscriber  dollars.

What if it is clearly and obviously expandable in the design that they land on?  Pay us 40M a year and we'll pledge to expand it.

Former B1G commissioner Kevin Warren literally stated that getting in the L.A. market was a big reason for their westward expansion. The B1G is now in the 3 largest markets in the country. While the TV market may not matter as much, the market size will and Tampa is only growing.

Well, I'm still mad because I thought the capacity should be 49,212 and it isn't.
