Does the B1g have any other teams in that market? If not they probably keep them for TV money.

USF has to be happy that there is no relegation like they do in European soccer leagues, or we would have been in the ASun a long time ago.

But would we be winning?

Edit: also, I am in favor of pro-rel.

I personally would not want relegation in college sports, but it would make games more interesting. Can you imagine a playoff game between the top 2 AAC teams; winner gets to go to the ACC the following season, while the bottom ACC team gets relegated to the AAC.

Then you could have the two bottom AAC teams play each other with the loser going to Conference USA the following season, while the top Conference USA team gets to go to the AAC.

I am not proposing this; but it would make college football more interesting

We would drop to the depths of the FCS if this were a thing. Nope don't like it.

Just don’t include the FCS in pro-rel. Three or four tiers of conferences in the current FBS.

In this scenario the pac and CUSA are torn apart.

Top two: sec and b1g

next tier: b12 and acc

next tier: aac and mwc

bottom tier: Sun belt and Mac

They could replace Rutgers with Syracuse or, God forbid, UConn and still have the NYC market.  I believe Syracuse delivers numbers/eyeballs/ratings in the City equal to, or better than Rutgers.

cable carriage fees are going away. espn won't be able to charge people that don't watch their channels $10 per month  anymore.

teams that can sell streaming subscriptions on their own merit will be all that matters. not sure any of those schools move the needle.

eventually the top 30 or so programs will be divided between big 10(north division) and sec (south division)
