How many players from USC sat out for the draft though?

Tulane

RB Cameron Carroll (injury)
QB Justin Ibieta (injury)
WR Dea Dea McDougle (transfer portal)

USC

WR Jordan Addison (Injury)
RB Travis Dye (Injury)
LB Ralen Goforth (Transfer portal)
WR Michael Jackson III (Injury)
C Brett Neilon (Injury)
DT Kobe Pepe (Transfer portal)
EDGE Romello Height (Injury)
LB Julien Simon (Transfer portal)
OG Andrew Vorhees (Injury)
QB Caleb Williams (Injury)

So ten USC players sat out the bowl, allowing our good friends from N'awlins to eek out a one point victory. Didn't need any Marie Laveau gris-gris. So, we're gonna go ahead and s'pose that had USC fielded a full team, Tulane would have come up short. And as such, becomes just another in a long line of AAC losses to "Big People's Table" teams. :05-nono:

Not sure that list shows "sat out for the draft" ... although I suppose "injury" might have been cover for "doesn't want to get hurt worse" (Caleb Williams was probably actually hurt, tho)

With all that said. We are going to be fine. You can walk into a bar and have a legitimate argument that the AAC is one of the top 6 rated conferences year end & year out. Looking forward to it all….

Lol college football is going to start being amazing again starting in 2024. This season is kind of like a prepare season building into 2024. We may win 6 games if we are 3-2 after Navy game. Getting to a 6-6 bowl game will help USF spring board into contenders for one of the top 6 spots regarding the playoffs…..Jim Mora Playoffs GIF

The old AAC was definitely #6. New AAC? TBD. Can definitely achieve it but could need an adjustment period like the old AAC. First 3 years of the CFP era saw 3 different G5 conferences go to the NY6. Next 6 years after that was AAC dominance.

It was until the new college football playoff format starting in 2024. Maybe the AAC was already on to something. Now you can basically walk into just about any bar across the country and have some great arguments regarding AAC being part of the P6

Among other factors in non playoff bowls. Using exhibition games as any kind of measuring stick when comparing things is not productive, imo ....

I think your post is totally on point. Besides UCF, Cincy, and Houston how many current AAC teams have made it to a New Years 6 Bowl recently? Just Tulane I believe.

With these teams gone the remaining AAC teams will have to prove that the AAC is still the best of the rest. Perhaps time for us to take our chance with these teams gone and dominate the AAC and get ourselves to one of these major bowls. Perhaps to soon this year, but zero reason we can't best out Memphis, Tulane, and  UTSA to win the AAC starting next season.
