Not really.

I'd rather be playing teams who are actually competitive and care about having good football programs. I don't want to play in a less crappy AAC.

My first/only concern is USF and don't really give a **** whether conference mates care or don't care about football ....... You do realize that all conference champions will have an auto bid to the playoffs shortly, right?

I as well would prefer to be in a regional ACC league, but geographically and travel distance wise there isn't much difference between playing SMU, North Texas, Rice, Memphis, UTSA, FAU, Temple and other AAC teams vs Kansas, Baylor, Texas Tech , West Virginia, UCF,.... and other Big 12 teams. So we might as well be in the Big 12 since it would mean more prestige, opportunity, and more money.

There is nothing wrong with the AAC. The teams coming in will probably smoke USF this season.

and you do realize it is the six highest-ranked conference champions? Not all conference champs.

If your concern is for USF than the Big12 would most likely be getting more money and would be better for USF.

We laugh and joke, but if you think about it, is this not where we were back in the good old Sunbelt days, then Metro then CUSA days? Maybe we shouldn't have conned ourselves into believing that our inadvertent slipping past the Big East turnstile was heralding us into a realm where we truly belonged, for some measure of permanence. Really, just a peek behind the curtain. And as such, regardless of what conferences look like in the future, we may be resident in the Also-ran Athletic Conference for decades to come. So, if you want that playoff spot, the big end-of-season rivalry game with Charlotte may be of more importance than we currently believe. We are who we are.
