Could USF join SDSU, SMU, and Colorado State in the Pac 12?

Oregon remains "way on board" with Pac-12, per source.

Don't think it would happen, but at the same time I was surprised when I heard SMU was a candidate for the PAC. Still Tampa is way too far East from the other PAC teams. Still nice to even be mentioned in the article. And nice to hear that we are a power house academically. I have no doubt if we get back to relevancy and built that OCS a power 5 conference will pick us up, just don't think it will be the Pac.

Oregon stays "way on board with Pac 12" until they get the Big 10 invite.

If they get the invite they would be foolish not to accept and leave the Pac for the Big 10

Pac-12 would be great (for me) if Arizona and Arizona State stayed in the Pac-12.  I'd be able to occasionally see the Bulls out here.  One of the problems with the conference today, in my opinion, is TV slots.  They need earlier games.  USF can help with that.

"Academic fit and culture are high among the Pac-12’s expansion criteria."

Quote

"There's something I've learned about membership -- don't trust anyone," Mike Tranghese, who was the Big East commissioner from 1990 to 2009 and was a part of several of these battles, told ESPN about realignment in general. "Everyone is going to do what they think is in their best interest. Everyone is going to do what they think they have to do to position their schools. That's the world college athletics has been living in for a long time."

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
