All the conferences have spring meetings in April

Good chance some of the conferences will vote on expansion

It's not going to happen but USF, FSU, Miami and UCF to B12 would be our dream scenario. That would be one fun conference to be a part of. Should I ask Yoda, the Dude, et al to run it by the alignment gods at FOX?

Fun if you have no hopes for a conference championship trophy.

I hope that was a joke. You're an idiot if you think our current situation would be better than bolting to the Big 12 or ACC.

A conference championship trophy doesn't mean anything when nobody gives a **** about the garbage conference you play in.

Exactly, can anybody name the last 5 SunBelt champions? In 2014, it is looking like we could have one loss and be playing the a 6-6 SEC team in the Liberty bowl for 0 bragging rights. YEAH!

Tell that to WVU. Or Rutgers. Or Pitt. Or Louisville. Or even Syracuse who shared the Big East football championship last season. Or are you saying that the Big East hasn't been garbage since 2005? Cincy and UConn, acknowledged by many as the two most desirable left of the recent Big East members, have also won the conference championship. Who is last on the list? Last of the entire Big East of the 2005 membership? The same school that hasn't won even a share of the championship.

Not to mention the schools like Boise St that the Big East was attempting have join the conference or which Sun Belt teams are moving up. Championships DO seem to increase the chance of upward mobility in a lot of cases, regardless if its a garbage conference.

I'm saying the conference, in its current form, is NOT the same Big East we joined in 2005. What we are in now is seen and being treated as C-USA. No more AQ, no big boy table, no great bowl games, nothing. Championships here will mean as much as they do in the Sun Belt and the real C-USA presently, zero.

To argue otherwise is idiotic. ACC or Big 12 are light years ahead or our current conference situation.

Indeed, I don't think anyone here would argue against that. However, I think that we may just well be where we are, Conference TBA, for very good reasons. We never plowed through the weakest BCS conference as we thought (rightly or wrongly) we would. Our last two years were abysmal, and as for the 'rumors, tweets, etc', rumors are just rumors, heresay or outright wishful thinking. And while some folks think the big conference jump is GONNA happen SOON, I'm leaning towards USF taking up residence in Conference TBA for some time to come. And as long as we are there, it would be in our long term best interest to rack up some hardware and accolades (regardless of their perceived value outside of the conference).

Also, if x-conference were to 'vote in favor of expansion', can that be an open ended proposition; something akin to "we want to go to sixteen teams, but have no firm deadline as to when this will be finalized"? And if so, is not a tenure in Conference TBA pretty much an audition?

I'm not sure if you're being serious. Of course you try to win where you are! I don't think that anyone is saying that we shouldn't give a **** about winning. But, if the Big 12 said you can either join or stay in CTBA, then you jump. Very simple, play as well as you can and hope for the invite.

Guys ---- I know I shouldn't tell anyone ... but, just heard from a friend in the department (who will remain nameless) that he has 30 jobs dumped on him to prepare for a 4PM press conference today. Don't know all the details but he was pretty sure it was conference related.

I'm sure BMM will have it soon. I'll post more when I find out.

My comment was an agreement that, outside of CTBA, that championship has little relevance but, winning that Championship would add weight to the case of  potential USF inclusion. As I believe we will be spending quite some time in CTBA, we do indeed give a **** about it, and I would imagine when expansion rears its ugly head again, there will be no shortage of trotting out "winning the CTBA x-number of times" as evidence of merit.

Fingers crossed that this isn't an April Fools joke

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
