college football is now just about the power 2, forget the power 5. over the next 2-5 years the landscape will completely shift again, FSU will jump to SEC, acc will try to regain status, random programs will become very relevant because of NIL deals

Probably true, but as some have said, this will eventually lead to the whole thing blowing up and then possibly a return to traditional regional conferences like there were before all this crap began.  This is all being driven by money, but the college football fans of most of the schools are the biggest losers in this.  Even the big school fans are losers when their traditional rivalries get broken up with realignments.   At this point, I am hoping for all of this to accelerate so that it blows up and reverses within my lifetime.  Everything is cyclical.  We've already got the NFL, we don't need college football to become the "NFL with textbooks."

I mean, that's cool and all, but everybody knew the auto-bid was going away as the CFP format was announced in 2012.

That was the official announcement. The chest game was played 12 months before. Willie knew he was not getting a job in the Big East when he was hired.

The whole idea of chasing a National Championship is a farce - and becomes moreso each year. In reality, there are only a handful of programs that ever realistically have a chance to win it. It's all about watching the Green & Gold compete every Saturday, winning a conference trophy, and going to a bowl game. Any nashing of teeth about anything else is just wasted time. Since I was born - 56 years ago - there have only been 21 schools that have won a Natty (not including Oviedo CC).
