Yes, everything would have to be regulated under the same umbrella (cough NCAA cough) ...

Relegation/promotion it would require some kind of conference alignment for upper/lower divisions ... and likely could not be every year - maybe every two years or four years... it would likely need to the same number of conferences in the upper/lower divisions (4 16-team divisions in each is 132 teams, and there will be 133 teams starting next year when James Madison makes the jump to FBS).

I was thinking relegation would work like this.  A Disney-owned megacorporation like ESPN will decide which football teams are worthy and which ones get relegated.  There will be no governed process.   Then some really old rich guy in a cowboy hat running a "playoff committee" will decide who gets to play for the championship at the end.  These teams will include: Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and some at large team every year.

What do you think of this style of approach?  After all, Nick Saban said he doesn't really know how it works anyway.

Got canned at La Tech so he wasn’t exactly Vince Lombardi.  However I get your point and will always hate Genshaft for how she destroyed our team.

Actually it was a mutual thing, after a .500 season, with the pro job sitting there for him. Oh, Btw, he did okay at that.

This defines Willie, chasing the bag.  He'll not be remembered for winning anything of consequence, but he does have a lot of other peoples' money.

Wrong, he was 4-8 his final season and was canned prior to his last game.  and you are using pro job rather loosely IMO.

He has a few million reasons to not care about his overall record coaching or winning anything of importance.

I can't blame him getting trucks full of cash at Oregon and fsu just to end up coaching against usf in the same conference he was here. He failed on the big stage and is back where he was mediocre in the American in three seasons . I just hope fau has the turnover purse to make fun of...

- First 10 win season

- Started longest streak of 30 points per game in the nation started (since beaten but was record at time)

- Responsible for Gulf Coast offense, 4th Qtr "swag", "Bay Made" mantra

- His last season was our first that we ended with Top 25 ranking

- Left team in better place than he found it (we had another 10 won season after)

- Recruited (? I think) and developed the most recent bulls hall of Fame QB

I don't get the hate for trying to get paid while you can.  Look at Leavitt, how did his devotion to the team over the next gig (could have had Bama right?) work out for him?  Kicked to the curb when he didn't deliver the moon and a disgruntled player said some junk.

Financially, yes. Professionally, not really. Chase the money all you want, I suppose, but most coaches are looking to build a reputation and a legacy knowing that the bank account will come with it.
