No you don't, but the more frequently they change, the less likely you are to be successful.

No argument there ...

Yeah, a recent article suggested the Pac# taking SMU and Houston.

That would be weird, so I am guessing it would happen.

Taggart wanted to prove just enough to garner interest from other schools to bail out.

Taggart interest in staying here fell off after the 2016 ECU game where he was 5-1 and < 14k actual people showed up for a noon game not to mention he didn't get along well w Mark Harlan...If we had MK at the time and better attendance he probably could have been convinced to stay...he was offered a big raise to stay and didn't flinch...He was frustrated for sure...and a bit impatient in my opinion.

Taggart wasn't staying anywhere. The guy was always looking for his next gig. He wanted bigger and better. He got what he wanted. Didn't end well for him.

Here's a fun one that will solve all of our realignment problems.  Let's just make it official.
"Now maybe they come up with some kind of way like they do in soccer over in Europe I think. I don’t understand it completely.

That would mean equal pay for all the conferences in the top league. They would have to regulate everything.

Yes, everything would have to be regulated under the same umbrella (cough NCAA cough) ...

Relegation/promotion it would require some kind of conference alignment for upper/lower divisions ... and likely could not be every year - maybe every two years or four years... it would likely need to the same number of conferences in the upper/lower divisions (4 16-team divisions in each is 132 teams, and there will be 133 teams starting next year when James Madison makes the jump to FBS).
