If we need AAU to get into a better conference How does USF obtain AAU? Also, can someone explain pre-eminence and how that could fit in to  helping us get into a new conference if at all?

AAU is preferred by Big Ten. ACC does not mind if we are not AAU. Our academics are solid so ACC may like that.

Pre-eminence is a Florida thing that means extra $$ in the budget for operations... USF can hire more faculty with the money.  More faculty helps with AAU.

Pre-eminence has nothing to do with athletics.

AAU members have to invite USF... and only if USF exceeds some unknown number of their current members in key academic/research categories... USF likely does this in most categories although it may not have enough distinguished faculty... hence closing the loop with more $$ to hire more PhDs.

Of course the Florida Legislature meddling in higher education from time to time doesn't help attract quality faculty... but that's a different story.

If he thinks what the PAC is being offered is brutal, he better adjust his panties and expectations when the Big12 goes to market.

Miami doesn't really fit the mold of a SEC or B1G school.  Miami is a private university with a small enrollment. In addition, they haven't exactly been lighting it up in quite a while. I believe USF has more appeal long term that Miami. Especially if we get AAU status.

The bolded part is completely delusional, sorry.

Not really. Miami is Miami. No OCS, no true fan base. Dolphins suck, Marlin suck, Panthers suck. Tampa Bay is CHAMPA BAY! We have much more room to grow and will continue to improve. OCS on the way. Better IPF, college basketball facilities. Baseball & softball facilities. Bigger student body. We can go on & on on how USF is the better choice when you look at potential.

Hmm.  It's possible in theory.

So true. I work at the College of Education at UF and a sizable amount of the faculty are leaving for this reason.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
