Is it though? What's the actual advantage? It's not like the Big 12 won't extend their GOR once they sign their next deal. There's no tangible advantage (or disadvantage) to going first by a year. The only thing that matters is the media deal value. If the PACs media deal isn't significantly higher than what the Big 12 will get, no Big 12 team is leaving and paying $80M for that.

If all 10 sign the Grant of Rights, they can't be poached by the Big 12 and won't go to the Big Ten.

Right but if they feel there's a better landing spot out there for them, they'll make plans to leave before a new GOR is in place. Exactly what the LA schools did. They only stick around to sign a new GOR if they don't feel there's a better option for them in the next few years.

A GOR will lock the window for when teams can leave but it doesn't make pay discrepancies go away. The ACC is being held together by their GOR right now but once we get to within 2 or 3 years of it ending, you'll see their teams trying to find a home in the SEC and B1G.

Isn't $25M per year roughly the same as what the Big 12 was allegedly looking at? Or was it less than that?

PAC money will be going down, significantly.  B12 money will be going up, no one knows how much.  The new PAC/MWC love child conference will be a very good conference, better than the AAC.

So you think the PAC money will go down from losing USC and UCLA but the Big12 money will go up after losing Texas/ Oklahoma? Ok

Yeah, Pac12 and B12 will not partner.   Good news

Inflation being what it is, yes.  The PAC is losing more than usc and ucla, their value is going to go down further.   Also think that the four markets the big 12 added equalized certain data points they needed to maintain particular value.

Here is a good link for you to look at, pay close attention to the tv ratings with OU or UT playing and those without. Once you do and you look at the ratings of the four additions you will clearly see that there is no way that it replaces what they lost.

The problem is ... the Big 12 cannot provide numbers because the negotiating window doesn't open for another 16-18 months.

So if you're Colorado... you have the new Pac 10 media deal and grant of rights to sign now, with no way to know for sure how much the Big 12 could offer you.  You have the bird in your hand... but no way to know if there are two birds in the bush.

I understand, OU/T are better.  No one is saying they aren’t.  It’s bigger than that though.  They are trying to take the Longhorn network and turn it into Big12 network.  The four markets added surpass viewers of those two departing teams, even if those teams have better individual followings.

This dude's a UCF fan right? I see his downvoted reputation and his posts always sound like a UCF fan. This is a take so delusional only someone from those fanbases would make it
