Hi. Just thought I’d check in. I used to go by a different handle wayyy back in the day. Like ‘05 or around there is when I started. I think. Lost my password. First, I’m a UCF alumni (here in peace). I was a UCF alumni way back then, too. A much more recent and younger alum in those days, but same dude. Just reading thru your comments to get your takes on all of this. Lots of talk regarding Bianchi. Bianchi knows a lot. He’s very deeply connected and very good on reading the room. But once he got his own radio show in Orlando, he had to cheerlead UCF. Other than the Magic and Orlando City, Orlando radio had UCF. He of course covers topics on other national sports, scandals and teams, but has to revert to local news to keep his audience. Since Frost came, UCF became an obsession of his. His ratings went way up the more he covered UCF. He’s has also been followed in the AM by Marc Daniels’ show, “Beat of Sports”. He’s the voice of UCF games and also promotes UCF a ton, obviously. I live in the Tampa market. I listen to 620am. They very rarely cover college football at all. And when they do, they almost seem bored about it and want to move on fast to tge Rays, Lightning, Bucs and national sports talk. You can see the same thing with print media in Tampa, too. There’s a big difference in media in the two markets. The sports radio in Orlando talks UCF and college football as #1 and NFL #2. Other sports other than Magic/Orlando City are hardly a topic. That’s big free advertising for UCF.

As a Bull fan in Orlando, i can't stand Bianchi.

So Bianchi seems to understand the dynamic, embrace local teams and their fans and piss off the fans of OTHER TEAMs.  Love it.  He's a smart guy, not a smart ass (although he can be).  :)

Having lived in Orlando for a little over a year prior to Bulls football, I hate the city but not because of c. I guarantee you would like Bianchi  if he was in Tampa pimping us.  He is at least engaging and somewhat talented unlike JK who is a hack that was given too many wedgies growing up and has an ax to grind.

Thanks, Eric. Some don't seem to recognize it but you've confirmed what I've said about the difference in the two markets and why Bianchi has done what he's HAD to do over there .... Orlando is nothing but a college town on steroids.

It is a transient major city with no real identity other than Disney and low income housing and low paying jobs.  It is nothing like a college town and playing Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas will not put them in a position of strength.  Are they superior to us at this given time, of course, but besides  being a huge University accepting everyone with a pulse, they have some serious issues to contend with.

Yes and yes. However, he's still an ass in my book. Go Bulls!

That was more in reference to there's nothing much else going on there in the way of sports .... the Magic earns them the steroid booster.

i loved the ny papers growing up. the daily news in the morning and the post for the late scores

Heck as a kid in Trenton, NJ we had a morning AND afternoon edition of the Trenton Times. The Trentonian was a morning only paper back then. Not sure if either is around any longer.
