We've gone over this **** ad nauseum. The TB area had their "Bianchis" back when they were trying to become a major sports area. Orlando is a glorified college town with only a weak NBA franchise for local writers to cover. Bianchi is doing the same stuff that the McEwens and Mizells did in trying to up the local sports profile for his own benefit. Maybe if there hadn't been a UT football program when there was, USF may have decided to start football earlier and possibly would have been pimped by the Tampa Bay "Bianchis" back then .....

If you say I am a newspaper apologist because it reminds me of being a newsie selling papers on the corner as a kid, I will do my best to spare you from the first round of the people’s razor when the great usf athletics revolution finally has its reconning day.

That doesn’t impact my desire to have the local rag write for the locality.  It’s been a bag of dicks for so long it’s not worth discussing.

We will have to disagree on this. If you compare it to their reporting on UF the disparity is readily apparent.

I'm not really disputing the disparity in coverage with UF compared with USF. The Gators have pretty much been the number one college sports program in this market for decades.

They do, when warranted .... but you want a self serving cheerleader like that dickwad Bianchi and that's just not how it works in major sports markets.

I’d pay for a Mike Bianchi, double or more, in fact.

The papers aren’t struggling because of Bulls fans.  However, their elitist mindset lasts until today. Fans of so many Tampa pro and other state teams left them, they might think about that.  Maybe reshape their thinking.  A lot have gone to fans’ sites.  No need to pay someone to crap on your team.

i loved the ny papers growing up. the daily news in the morning and the post for the late scores

This.

Plus Bianchi was a columnist not a reporter.  He doesn't "cover" UCF.  You should not compare McMurphy / Auman / Knight / Baker to Bianchi.

That said - Queston for @Brad -- How does the Arizona Republic cover ASU? It's a "major sports market" -- do their columnists always pimp the Sun Devils?

100%.  I can recall a few years back when LSU at UF which had been cancelled and not played because of a hurricane threat got a bigger write up on Sunday than the USF home victory that actually was played in Rayjay the night before.  Really?

Jesus you guys piss and whine about the media. The majority of USF football teams have had little to write about in a positive manner. As for recently, it’s even worse. The team can’t win, it’s lost out in conference realignment…again, it’s AD has made some questionable decisions, etc. You want a cheerleader? That’s not news. It’s commentary which has little value other than to make you feel good. Some of you must want confirmation of a make believe world as opposed to what is reality. Many of the articles in the other sports (especially softball and women’s soccer) are positive. Why is that? Because they friggin win. Put on your big boy paints and stop crying while this train wreck is not getting positive press.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
