So to recap the latest rumors...

Arizona, ASU, Utah and CU to Big 12

Big Ten working on ND and Stanford as top 2 targets

That's where there is the most smoke.

Other smoke: Washington can't go because of politics, Oregon maybe, Big Ten might want another ACC school (UNC), SEC might retaliate (get OU/UT sooner and maybe 2 more ACC schools)

I understand the goal is to move up to a better conference and get recognition and get paid. What if we just moved to the Funbelt and said screw it?

Don’t know if it’s fair to say that it was luck. The way they’ve gone from our rear view mirror to lapping us is frustrating. However, they made the most of their opportunities. They won four conference titles, two in our conference, in a span where we went 65-80 and never got so much of a share of a title. There was some opportune timing to be sure, but they earned what they got. We got a seven year head start in a power conference and did nothing with the opportunity. We had the market, the campus, the big name games, etc. but didn’t capitalize on facilities, marketing, and the wins that mattered.

Maximizing our opportunity was a big part. Though there's always some element of luck. I do agree with @DontPushMe take on the timing. Because I can say with full confidence that if the Big 12 and PAC 12 were raided the same summer, the preferred choice absolutely would have been to associate only with existing P5 teams, so some merger of the leftovers from both. The only reason the Big 12 went for the best G5 was because both as a conference and as individual programs, none of their P5 related avenues yielded any success.

Honestly, I'm getting older and older and just not really giving a **** what conference we're playing in. This stuff is all kind of fun waiting to see where everything washes out but I'm more interested in seeing if CJS can get the most important part of all this back on track.
