My money is on us to ACC eventually.

I sure hope so. One thing it says is that all these internet “experts” have very short memories. They can’t think beyond a season or two. You’d think our winning was ancient history. You only have to go back to the middle of the 2018 season to see a 28-4 run with a pair of bowl wins over P5 before the wheels came off. But I guess it’s a what have you done for me lately - unless your Vandy, Nebraska, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Washington, Arizona, etc., etc.

Personally, I think the best option for the remaining P3 (doesn’t benefit us) is for them to form the best of the rest. Take the best teams from PAC/B12/ACC and form that amalgamation. That is only if ND bolts for B1G and SEC try’s for FSU/Clemson.

Then the left overs from there can take the best options from the rest of the G5, and hopefully we get pulled into that.

We won’t know until we know, but this whole realignment scenario seems gloomy for us. Let’s hope that feeling is wrong.

After all that we have been through I am not optimistic as well. If we are hoping for an ACC implosion before 2036 it is predicted on contracts being broken and lawsuits taking place. Further, the past leadership and some of MK’s decisions have me worried that we are what we are no matter what happens. An even bigger concern is pretty soon these Power Programs are only going to be playing each other and we could be relocated even further. But hey, other than that we are in a great position.

True but what internet experts have been correct? Everyone throws their crap out there and I am becoming more and more convinced that none of them know anything

The ironic thing about all of this conference jockeying is that they are alienating half of the college football world. The TV viewership of any blueblood game isn't just fans of either school. A lot of non-blueblood fans watch because it is not only entertaining, but in a lot of cases is also relative to their own teams' seasons. If they completely alienate over half of the college football viewing population from this new tier, then why would fans/alum/students/etc care to be pawns in this ad revenue game? This strategy seems to have the potential to be self-diluting.

Unfortunately that brief period is surrounded by like a decade of medicore football.

We definitely do bring some good things to a conference our big tv market, big school and our location...hopefully people put alot of importance on those things.

I understand your point but my gut says they still watch. I watch CFB all day every Saturday. This won’t change that.

They can't all be wrong... most of these rumor mongers are saying just a few basic things...

  • The Big Ten wants Notre Dame and will use Stanford to entice them.  They may also take Oregon and Washington to offer some additional Western teams for travel.
  • The Pac 12 remnants (with or without Oregon/Washington/Stanford) have few options for reconstituting the conference:
    • Raid the Big 12 for a handful of schools (Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Ok State)
    • Look at some MWC schools (SDSU, Fresno St, maybe Boise)
    • Will Fox do anything to try to save the Pac 12
    • Merge with the Big 12
  • The Big 12 needs to do something
    • Merge with the Pac 12
    • Raid the Pac 12 for a handful of schools (Arizona, ASU, Utah, Colorado)
    • Look at some AAC or MWC schools (USF, Memphis, SMU, Boise St)
    • Do either Fox or ESPN care about the Big 12?
  • The ACC could be screwed because of their GoR
    • Will anyone fight it? Can anyone fight it?
    • Will the SEC help to pry away Clemson, FSU, and others (UNC/NC State/VaTech/UVa)
    • Will the Big Ten help to pry away teams (Ga Tech/UNC/UVa)
    • Will the teams who are stuck try to restructure their contract to base payments for schools who invest more in success in football?
    • Will ESPN allow the ACC to be broken up?
  • Notre Dame is a wild card
  • The SEC started this... will they stand aside?  They'll be renegotiating a TV contract because of the UT and OU addition, so why not try to bring a few more?

Obviously all of these cannot be correct... but unless nothing more happens at all, some combination of the above will be correct.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
