This article presents an interesting theory.

1. ESPN was behind the Texas and Oklahoma move to SEC (stating the obvious), which was a financial blow to Fox (which shared Big 12 rights).

2. Fox was behind the USC and UCLA move to the Big Ten (stating the obvious), and Fox will look to take the ESPN rights from the Big Ten.

3. ESPN could step into the Pac 12 (thanks Nike) and pull more teams from the Big 12 (again, to hurt Fox)

It's open warfare on the college football battlefield, where the conferences are becoming useful pawns in the battle between broadcasters.

---------

“Thompson spent nine years as the president of Fox Sports Networks. He negotiated multiple rights agreements with the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and ACC. He believes Fox is now “an unlikely bidder” on the Pac-12’s rights.

...

Fox was probably pretty ticked when Texas and Oklahoma announced the move to the SEC and I imagine they believe ESPN was behind it,” Thompson said. “I think the days of Fox and ESPN partnering on things like the Big 12 and Pac-12 are probably over for now.”

Ex-Fox Sports Network executive weighs in; could Oregon-Washington be next for Big Ten?

From a WVU rag:

"With that said, the ACC will need to find a way to bring Big 12 Conference schools West Virginia, Cincinnati, UCF, Oklahoma State, Kansas and TCU to bolster the 12 remaining teams in the conference."

The Voice of Motown provides opinionated, informative articles covering West Virginia sports.

We've been forgotten for so long, even one of our greatest BE opponents doesn't remember us.  UCF with a burst of success at the right time, USF with a long streak of failure.
